Environment Canada Issues Extreme Cold Warning for South Peace Region


Environment Canada is warning people to stay inside. Arctic air with temperatures down to -40 are expected to remain in place Wednesday and into Thursday. The extreme cold coupled with frigid winds can lead to frostbite within minutes on exposed skin so please stay inside if you can. If you must venture outdoors then please cover up. And don’t forget your pets. If it’s too cold for you outside, it’s likely too cold for them as well so bring them in.





3:37 AM PST Wednesday 21 December 2022 Extreme Cold Warning in effect for:

· B.C. North Peace River

· B.C. South Peace River

A period of very cold wind chills is expected. Location: Peace River and Williston and Pine Pass. Time span: Until Thursday. Threat: Bitterly cold temperatures and dangerous wind chill. Remarks: Arctic air will remain in place giving extremely cold temperatures through Thursday.

Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
